The #nextgenluna project was a year-long design exercise, whose goal was to visualize what a better user experience for the Akamai Luna portal might look like. There were no technical constraints put on the design team - we had to imagine and prototype a better experience from the customer's point of view. This design exercise led directly to a complete redesign of the portal which was launched in September 2018.
These story path diagrams helped to illustrate the user-centric workflows that we wanted to demonstrate as part of the portal redesign.
My initial wireframe concepts were based on using Google Drive as an interaction model. This helped the team to visualize how to organize and display Akamai content using existing interaction patterns.
The final visual designs and interactive prototype were created by the rest of the #nextgenluna design team. This collaborative effort proved that design at Akamai was not simply about icons and page layouts - but about providing a superior experience to our customers.
